Acquired: 1536

Henry acquired the manor of Chelsea from Lord Sandys in a property exchange. Tradition says he built a new manor house on the site, but Colvin notes that the house may well have already existed. Additional construction and garden work were recorded in 1536–38, and the king and other members of the royal family visited from time to time. The house was given to Katherine Parr as part of her jointure in 1544, and Anne of Cleves resided there under Mary’s reign.

The house was entirely demolished by 1700, but was located at the site of 19–26 Cheyne Walk.
