Acquired: 1509 (by inheritance)
Sunninghill formed a part of Windsor Forest and its records are kept together with those of the Windsor estate. There was a lodge in it where Henry VIII occasionally stayed, but little is known of the house, beyond notices in the building accounts for repairs to glass in the gallery and Princess Mary’s chamber, and to additional staircases from the kitchen to the pond, and the chapel to the garden. Today nothing remains on the site.
